CVGMAP - Worldwide Map Data
CVGMAP is a seamless worldwide map data base that provides you with
consistent, continuous coverage of essential basemap features
suitable for many mapping applications. Derived from the DMA Vector
Smart Map (VMAP™) and Digital Chart of the World (DCW®),
it comprises eleven major themes
captured at a scale of 1:1,000,000.
Data can be extracted in several popular GIS formats: MapInfo MIF/MID, ESRI Shape files, Golden Software's Surfer BNA, and Geographix CDF. Preconfigured map styles are provided to create stunning maps of absolutely anywhere in the world!
The primary source of these data is the 1:1,000,000-scale series of Operational Navigation Charts (ONC) and Jet Navigation Charts (JNC). The horizontal datum for VMAP0 data is the World Geodetic System (WGS84) and the vertical datum is mean sea level (MSL). Absolute horizontal accuracy is listed as 2040 meters (at 90 percent circular error) for ONC data and 4270 meters for JNC data. Absolute vertical accuracy for ONC data is listed at +/-152.4 meters for elevation contours and +/-30 meters for spot elevations. Political and offshore boundaries are current up to 1994.
